ENOUGH IS ENOUGH !

What does it take? Who do you talk to? Who cares enough to say enough is enough? I have an idea that this will do nothing but maybe upset the wrong people but I will not stop untill I am heard.It may not make a difference but my silence is helping no one and distroying me.
I am an American ! I love America ! I have always been so very proud of the fact that I am an American. I just have to ask this question.When did we start caring more about feeding other countries ,paying huge amounts of money to fund unneccessary trips to other countries for their people. I am sure that you that are reading this thinks ,my gosh ,this is one careless person.Well im not. I care.I care about the children in other countries and I am not saying that they dont need our help. I feel that if anyone needs our help that we should help. BUT .. I think we should smart enough to help ourselves first ! Out of many other countries,that we help, care more for their elders than we do here in America.What is wrong with this picture? I am sure by now many of you are saying..well thats just not true..I care ! Well you just may.But are you heard? Have you sat in a nursing home and seen the care that is given? Have you seen elders in homes that never have a family memeber visit,much less help with thier care? Have you sat with your beloved Sister all day and had to go home to return to find her sitting in a bed of sicking direaha that had dried in her bed? Mind you, she is blind,paralized and cant speak.Of course the nite shift left it for the morning shift.And she was to be turned every two hrs. so if it was dried on the floor and in the bed you know that was not done. So you take her out and then only to go to the next place that you go in and find that she has been scalded and requires treatment at the er.This is ONE situation. My sister was in nursing homes for two yrs after an Anyerusum and several strokes.I was with her almost around the clock due to the care that she was given or I should say NOT given.I met with State Officals for meetings, I talked to many but of course it did no good. We took my sister out of the last home to come home and be cared for by her daughter because we could no longer take the abuse and lack of care that we witnessed. I have visited the nursing homes and spoke to other family memebers that feel all the same but just dont speak up. So tell me .. when is enough enough?
My friends Mom was put in a nursing home out of town and after listening to some of things I thought I would go with her to visit and try to make myself believe that it was all just MY own worries about my Sister. Well it is NOT> I witnessed a worker put this precious lady in a geriatric chair at 8;45 am and she would cry out and ask for help breaking my heart with each sentance. I went to her and repositioned her and her smile was the sweetest thing I had seen and a long time.We stayed visiting untill 4 in the afternoon. This lady was still sitting in the same chair in the same position.That is over 7 hrs. Enough is enough !
Now I am sure that you are saying..well if you sat there why didnt you help her.I did what I could do to help her. You can not legally lift a patient and many workers were told that she needed to lay down.Food trays are brought in and left and many cant fed themselves.Workers put the trys down and walk away.Enough is enough ! I could go on and on,believe me when I say that I have many many others that have told me things that would make you sick inside.There is one thing that would stop all this and help the patients and the families sleep at nite. How is it that the gov. can afford to put cameras in parking lots, dressing rooms, and about 20 other places but can seem to find it necessary to watch and care for our elders? Oh im sure you will say , No.. that would be invading thier privacy. Well it is ok to invade our privacy while we try on new clothes or go to the restroom.. for our protection you say but we cant watch to see how our Mothers, Fathers,Sisters,Brothers ,Grandmothers and other Loved ones are cared for?Enough is enough ! I think that I would rather them cut cost somewhere and put cameras in the rooms and have a monitor watched by security person. Or even the family could get copies of the tapes .Now why would anyone refuse that? I know that many will stick their heads in the sand and say an word but I Pray that when you pull your head out of the sand that you are not looking around to find that you are sitting in a bed a mess Praying for help for hrs.... Then maybe you will say..Enough is enough !
